Executive Director, Institute of Excellence in Corporate Governance at UTD
Constantine Konstans is Founding Executive Director of the Institute for Excellence in Corporate Governance (IECG), Professor of Accounting and Information Management, and President of Beta Gamma Sigma (the honorary society for AACSB International-accredited business schools) at The University of Texas at Dallas’ School of Management.
Prior to joining The University of Texas at Dallas, Dr. Konstans was the National Training Director for KPMG and Vice-Chair of the Firm’s International Training Directors’ Group.  Earlier, he was Associate Dean for External Affairs of the University of Memphis' Fogelman College of Business and Economics and Director of the School of Accountancy; Chair of the Accounting Department and President of the Faculty at Southern Methodist University's Cox School of Business; Professor of Decision Sciences at Georgia State University; and, Professor of Accounting at the University of Cincinnati.  He was the recipient of outstanding teacher awards from Southern Methodist University, Georgia State University and the University of Cincinnati.
Dr. Konstans was formerly Professor of Accounting at the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking; he also served as Visiting Professor of Accounting at Miami University (Ohio), Dillard University (New Orleans), and the University of North Texas.  Internationally, he was Visiting Professor at the Russian-American Graduate School of Management of the St. Petersburg State Technical University (as a co-founder of the School he was elected a Foreign Member of the Engineering Academy of St. Petersburg, Russia), Consulting Professor, University of Nuevo Leon (Monterrey, Mexico) and Visiting Professor, EDHEC (Lille, France).  He was also an External Examiner for Business Programs at the University of Technology in Kingston, Jamaica.
Degrees earned include a Bachelor of Music, with Honors, from Indiana University, a Master of Arts in Accounting from The Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Michigan State University.  He was awarded a full four-year scholarship by Indiana University; designated a Graduate Teaching Assistant by The Ohio State University and appointed an Instructor by Michigan State University.
Dr. Konstans has professional experience with all Big Four Accounting firms; extensive consulting experience in industry ranging from Fortune 500 companies to closely-held hi-tech professional service organizations; and, corporate directorships including banks, thrifts and manufacturing companies.  His experience in corporate executive development is extensive.  He also holds professional designations as a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, and Certified Fraud Examiner.  In addition, he had a distinguished career as a regular commissioned officer in the United States Army commanding a surface-to-air nuclear-armed guided missile battery ranked second among over 400 such units worldwide.
Professional memberships include the National Association of Corporate Directors, Financial Executives International (former Southwest Area Director and past President and current Director of the Dallas Chapter), the AICPA, the American Accounting Association, the Institute of Management Accountants, the Institute of Internal Auditors, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the Texas Society of CPA's, Beta Gamma Sigma, and Beta Alpha Psi.  He has served concurrently as a director of the Federation of Schools of Accountancy and the American Accounting Association's Administrators of Accounting Programs Group.

Dr. Konstans' primary teaching areas are Corporate Governance, Strategic Cost Management, Managerial Accounting and Management Control/Information Systems.  His research and consulting interests are in Corporate Governance, Executive/Organizational Development, Strategic Planning and Control, Performance Measurement and Compensation, Corporate Restructuring, Process Re-engineering, and the inherent behavioral issues in managing global professional services organizations.  Among his publications are a book, two monographs, and numerous articles in academic and professional journals.
